Glen Cunningham

Our Chief Scientist..

Most of the articles presented here are written by Glen. A fantastic writer with a true passion for the iron game. Here is a small bio of his achievements. He is currently President of www.corfit.com . We are honored to have Glen as part of this project his experience and prolific writing skills are unprecedented in the fitness world.

As a youngster, Glen loved team sports, participating in Hockey, Baseball and Football. His talent in baseball established his name in Rosemount, Quebec and as a juvenile first baseman, he was placed on the “negotiation list” of the St. Louis Cardinals; however, his interest in football was greater. Glen received scholarship offers from several Div. I. universities, but the lure of the professional
ranks was too great, thus education was put on hold.

The Montreal Alouettes and B.C. Lions pursued Glen but a “promising” career was cut short by injuries. Glen continued to train hard in his second-love of weight training and after a year of competition in bobsledding at Lake Placid, New York earned an invitation to the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbrook, Austria. However, compressed 4th and 5th cervical vertebraes prevented Glen from competing as the “G-Forces” were too great on his weakened neck and his helmet ended up scrapping along the ice in the comers.
Two decades flashed by as Glen worked the bartending Circuit in Montreal, Florida, California and Hawaii. Yet, the lifestyle eventually wore thin and Glen decided to pursue his earlier shelved university
career.
He enrolled in the Physical Education program at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec specializing
in weight-resistance training and physiology. Glen spent six years as weight training instructor
in the McGill athletics programme and served as a physical education teacher at Marianapolis College
in Montreal for three years.
Glen then felt he needed a greater challenge to test his pioneering concepts. He moved to the
“Mecca of Bodybuilding” in Venice, California where he worked with several state and regional
champions. He punctuated his career with his work as personal trainer for famed bodybuilding legend
Mike “The Zipper” Sable.
Following his tenure work with the elite, Glen pursued a career in journalism, submitting articles
for Iron Man Magazine and worked as editor-in-chief for Excel magazine. He then returned home to
Montreal where he continued his teaching at Marianopolis College. He later took a one-year sabbatical
to complete his writing project of the following texts: Advanced Bodybuilding, Basic Scientific
Principles of Weight-Resistance Training, Performance Nutrition, Principles of Curriculum Design,
For Women Only. Interest was so high in the project that Glen decided to open his own specialization
school, the rapidly-expanding Continental Organization of Registered Fitness Instructors and
Teachers (CORFIT) in 1989.
Since then, Glen has had his course texts added to the curriculum at Weston School in Montreal
Canada. Further, in 2006-2007, Glen was appointed the head of education and his text books were
selected as the course textbooks for the United States Personal Trainer Association (U.S.P.T.A.).
Internationally, Glen was given the honor and privilege of being the first (and only as the date of
publication) Canadian to teach out of the famed Nationalna Sportna Academia in Sofia, Bulgaria after
his course text were selected and subsequently translated by Dr. Julian Karabiberov Ph.D. owner
and founder of J.K. Fitness and publisher of Iron Man Magazine in Bulgaria.
Glen also continues to travel within North America presenting his course and offering lectures
on training, nutrition and the dangers of drug abuse. He has lectured at many high-schools, colleges
and universities in the United States and Canada and has also provided seminars at the HMS Donnacona
for the Canadian Navy in Montreal, Quebec. In addition Glen has also lectured at countless
fitness centers across North America and has maintained his very busy teaching schedule over the
past two decades lecturing on the benefits of the health and fitness lifestyle
